In a viral Instagram video, a dog owner revealed what her pups have started doing since their senior sister has become too old to play with them, and internet users can’t cope with the heartwarming footage.
The clip, shared in July under the username @dharmas_dogs, shows the 17.5-year-old pup, Amba, lying on her bed placed right near the window, watching creatures outside, as her siblings join her on the floor.
The poster told Newsweek: “When I moved Amba’s bed to a spot where she could see the squirrels playing, the others just stayed next to her and watched them with her. At 17.5 years old, her days may not include chasing squirrels anymore, but they will always include knowing that she is loved. Every dog deserves that.”
“Your sister is 17 and she can’t chase the squirrels anymore … So you all stay with her and watch them together. chasing is overrated,” reads layover text in the clip.
“Her siblings are staying close to her these days no matter where she is. Even when there are squirrels they could chase,” the caption adds.
The poster, who did not want to give her details, said that all of her pups are adopted from shelter, including Amba. She was adopted when she was just 6 months old, and has helped her owner raise all of the other pets, and many foster dogs, too.
When Amba was adopted, she was very sick with parvo and wasn’t expected to live, but she thankfully made it through almost two decades.
The owner said: “The two white dogs are congenitally deaf. Satchi, a male, was hours from euthanasia at shelter. As a shelter volunteer, I knew him and loved him. I adopted him hours before his scheduled euthanasia. Nali and Bruce both had traumatic pasts.
“Amba was the one who comforted each of them when I brought them home. They all love her so much, it makes me cry to see how they watch over her now that she’s frail. They are all so gentle and protective of her. They stay near her and make sure she’s always OK,” the poster said.
“They wait for her because she walks slowly these days. Every day, I am so deeply moved by their empathy and goodness. Amba deserves it. She is the definition of selfless love, in my opinion. Now she’s being taken care of in the way she took care of so many others.”

The video quickly went viral on social media and has so far received over 347,000 views and more than 45,000 likes on the platform.
One user, Calebkonley, commented: “I wish everyone could be so lucky to have 17 years with their best friend.”
