The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the most talked about teams heading into the 2025 NFL season, mainly due to the presence of future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
After an offseason full of rumors, speculation, reports, and waiting, Rodgers finally signed a one-year deal with the Steelers. There is a strong chance this could be his farewell tour in the NFL, although that has not been confirmed by him to this point.
Not only is Rodgers going to be asked to lead Pittsburgh to Super Bowl contention, the team will also need him to help mentor rookie quarterback Will Howard.

Howard looks to be a potential long-term starter for the Steelers. He has a lot of work to put in and improvement to make, but learning from Rodgers will help him.

While there are some questions about Rodgers and what kind of teammate he is, the 41-year-old quarterback has received a strong message of support from a radio host who covers the Green Bay Packers.
Andy Herman of the “Pack-A-Day Radio Show” spoke out about Rodgers and did not hold back his thoughts on what the veteran star will bring to Pittsburgh, especially when it comes to Howard.
“He is going to show them everything,” Herman said. “[Rodgers is going to] lead by example and do everything he can to set them up for success.”
During his tenure with the Packers, Rodgers worked well with his future replacement. Jordan Love was drafted to replace the legendary quarterback, but that did not make Rodgers unhappy with the young signal caller.
Instead, Rodgers worked hard to mentor Love. To this day, Love talks about how much of an impact Rodgers had on his development and that they developed a friendship with one another.

That will be similar to how Howard is treated by Rodgers. Other young Steelers players will also receive guidance and advice from the 41-year-old quarterback.
Despite all of the national media hate towards the new lead man in Pittsburgh, his teammates have always shared positive stories about him. He’s ready to be a good teammate and that has already shown for Howard.
All of that being said, it’s clear that Rodgers will be important as the starting quarterback, but his work with the rest of the team and the help he can give developing players will be integral to the future of the franchise as well.
