With the Mavericks looking to go after a title next season, it remains to be seen if they will keep the pick. Many teams will likely try to pry this pick from Dallas as the offseason continues.
The team will likely take the chance to land Flagg, who many see as the next generational talent heading to the NBA. But this is a shocking turn of events, and the Mavericks come out as true winners.
The Mavericks have completely changed the narrative around the entire team with this news. General manager Nico Harrison may have saved his job due to pure luck.

During his time at Duke, Flagg helped the program reach the Final Four. While the Blue Devils didn’t win the NCAA Championship, Flagg showed that he could take his game to the next level.
For the season, he averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 blocks, and 1.4 steals per game. Flagg was able to overcome collegiate defenses fairly easily, and he will now be looking to do more of the same at the NBA level.
The Mavericks have struck gold with this unlikely bounce of the ping-pong balls, and the entire trajectory of the franchise has been altered. Dallas will now enter the offseason knowing that they won the sweepstakes to draft Flagg.
