The New York Knicks grabbed a 2-0 series lead over the Boston Celtics in their second-round postseason series. Once again, the Knicks were able to overcome a large deficit to grab the win, shocking the entire Boston crowd.

This naturally sent New York fans into a frenzy, and they will be heading back home up 2-0 in the series. Madison Square Garden should be rocking for Game 3, and the Knicks will look to put the defending champions on the brink of elimination.
New York has used strong depth to overcome the Celtics, but their group of core stars has led the way. The Knicks are led by a group of former Villanova players, giving them some strong cohesiveness on the court.
But New York fans have now taken this to a new level, comparing the Knicks to the new Pope who was just named. Pope Leo XIV was named to be the next Pope on Thursday after a few days of deliberation.
The new Pope also graduated from Villanova, giving Knicks fans an unlikely connection. Many fans took to social media to show a connection, now claiming this season to be for the Knicks.
This seems to be more of a strange coincidence, but one that New York fans are running with.

Many expected the Celtics to run away with this matchup, especially after they swept New York in the regular season series. But the Knicks haven’t let any of the outside noise get to them, and instead, they have allowed their play on the court to do the talking.

If the Knicks are able to eliminate the Celtics, it would be one of the biggest upsets in recent memory. Boston entered the postseason with a great chance to repeat as NBA champions, and many saw them as a lock to reach the NBA Finals again.
